Patterned

Folks like me, (that is to say, older) are used to store-bought sewing patterns printed on tissue paper. Things have changed!

Are you anxious to make a dress, a pair of slacks but can’t get out shopping? Don’t worry! Now you can order your favourite pattern on-line and then print it out yourself. Of course the pattern might take as many as sixty sheets of paper and a ton of ink, but never mind! There is your pattern, waiting to be altered to your size and shape! Wow! Oh, I forgot to mention that some assembly is required! You’ll spread those sixty pages out on the floor and piece them together.

If you go after this type of pattern, notice that you are the one paying for the pattern, paying for its printing and using your time to put it together. Quite a saving, isn’t it?

We have a pattern for living. The difference is that we don’t have to do anything to get our hands on it. It’s printed clearly through out the Bible and the alterations will be in us, not in the pattern.

You’re blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God. You’re blessed when you follow his directions, doing your best to find him. That’s right—you don’t go off on your own; you walk straight along the road he set. You, God, prescribed the right way to live; now you expect us to live it. (From Psalm 119: 1-8MSG)

Prayer – Oh Lord may our steps steadily walk in the course you set. We’ll never have regrets for following you. Help us learn the pattern of your righteous ways. We choose to do what you tell us to do. Amen! (From Psalm 119:1-8, MSG)
