Years ago, Ron and I attended a country music concert where the performers sang their hearts out from a small raft in the middle of a lake.
I thought it odd then and still do. How did they keep their balance, remember the words, sing loud enough for the crowd, and avoid electrocution all at the same time? At least the raft kept the crowd at bay.
Jesus had some of the same problems with crowds, except it appears that his crowds craved bread, not singing.
Jesus answered, “You’ve come looking for me not because you saw God in my actions but because I fed you, filled your stomachs—and for free. (John 6:26, MSG)
Why do we follow Jesus? Do we just want what we want when we want it? Do we want what ever he gives, even if it isn’t what we want? Or do we want Jesus for who he is, not for what we can get?
Prayer – Examine our hearts for the truth, Lord. God give it to us straight. Amen
