Presence

“More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.” – Alfred Tennyson-1809-1892

Several worship songs speak of being changed by God’s presence. I suggest that these two are one and the same. For when we pray we are drawing near to God and we are in his presence. We are changed because the more time we spend with him the more we become like him.

Dear friends, if we feel at ease in the presence of God, we will have the courage to come near him. (1 John 3:21, CEV)

What will you do this week to draw nearer to God, to bask in his presence? To be changed?

Will you take a few minutes to read a chapter in the Bible? Sing a chorus or hymn? Read the biography of a saint? List your blessings? Sit quietly and talk to him?

Prayer –  Lord, as we spend time with you today, we pray that you change us. Lord, change us. For Christ, Amen
