Settling In

I received this note from cousins who just moved to a smaller home.

“We have kept busy, busy trying to “fit” things in a comfortable location. We can put something away, need it, then try to remember where we put it, and when we find it, wonder why we put it in that spot in the first place!

It seems to take a little longer to do things OR the minutes tick away much quicker than we move. Either way, time flies and energy wanes. Regardless, we are getting rooted here slowly, knowing there is still some settling to be done when the piano arrives and we can hang pictures to make it like home.”

I wonder if we will have these settling in problems in heaven. I guess not, because we won’t have to carry pictures and pianos with us. Won’t it be a great day when we all settle in to our final; resting place.

The Bible says that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven—God-made, not handmade—and we’ll never have to relocate our “tents” again.

Sometimes we can hardly wait to move—and so we cry out in frustration. Compared to what’s coming, living conditions around here seem like a stopover in an unfurnished shack, and we’re tired of it! We’ve been given a glimpse of the real thing, our true home, our resurrection bodies! The Spirit of God whets our appetite by giving us a taste of what’s ahead. He puts a little of heaven in our hearts so that we’ll never settle for less.   (From 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, MSG)…

Prayer – Thanks God for the promise of no more moving except toward you. Amen
