Shame on Mother

Yes, this is Mother’s Day and I dare to write this; shame on Mother. Why you ask; because we have made it a shame to be a mother.

The word Mother is defined this way.  A mother is a selfless, loving human who must sacrifice many of their wants and needs for the wants and needs of their children. A mother works hard to make sure their child is equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to make it as a competent human being. The role of the mother in the typical family is to bring unity and structure to the family unit. The mother plays multiple roles in the household. …

We joke about mothers who put their families above all else. We choose to ignore how much our mother’s influence has made us who we are. We are surprised when our children desire a unified, structured environment. We are very good at blaming mothers, especially our own.

A mother creates the atmosphere of the home. What is happening in yours?

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”[(Ephesians 6:1-3, NIV)

Prayer- Father God, help us to be the kind of mothers that our children need. Amen.
