Shelf Sitting

Even when we are fresh and new in our faith, sometimes God cans us. We want to do great things for Him but He places us on the shelf to await His purpose. What on earth is going on?

Have you ever been shelved?

Early in my walk with God, illnesses and family circumstances prevented me from doing all I’d planned to do for Him.

I sat on the shelf for quite a long while.

Eventually, though, after learning lots about patience and resilience, God judged me ready for consumption and I progressed into ministry. That shelf time taught me so much. I encourage you to let it do the same for you.

Complaining about our circumstances only maims us.

And he departed from our sight that we might return to our heart, and there find Him. For He departed, and behold, He is here. (St. Augustine, Confessions)

Let’s hope for what is yet unseen but we wait for it with patience and composure. (Romans 8:25)
