Survive, Strive, Thrive

“Well, we’ve survived this long.” I said to my son. He corrected me. “No, Mom, we’ve thrived.”

It’s been almost four years since our beloved Ron, our husband and father, died. Some days were excruciating; others barely tolerated; still others held joy.  We’ve moved forward anyway we could, always first seeking God and his kingdom.

Is it easier or is the scab thicker? I don’t know, but I know that this much is true. If you are suffering some pain or loss, everyday gets a little bit brighter, a bit easier to cope, to look forward into your own future.

I will soon die, as everyone must. But deep in your hearts you know that the Lord has kept every promise he ever made to you. Not one of them has been broken. Yes, when the Lord makes a promise, he does what he has promised. (Joshua 23: 14-16a, CEV)

Prayer –  Lord when our days seem dark, remind us of your truth. Amen
