Swallow On

The Bible tells of lots of swallows, and I don’t mean birds. Under his direction, snakes swallowed one another. (Exodus 7:12)

The earth swallowed people. (Exodus 16:18-33)

The sea swallowed the Egyptians.

Then there is this type of swallowing:

Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. (Matthew 23:24, KJV)

We know all about that tough, hard-to-swallow stuff, don’t we?  What have you been swallowing lately? Personally, I’ve had to eat more than my share of emotions, opinions, pride, someone else’s far-fetched stories, and even my own words. Some I should have swallowed, others I should have spit out.

Prayer – Lord, give us the grace to know when to chew, swallow or spit. Amen
