Conscious Living

You can’t sweep it under the carpet or shove it up high on a shelf.
Somehow it will turn up to spite you, that’s conscience your own better self.
No matter how hard you defy it, ignore it or push it away,
There’s one thing you can’ do with conscience and that is to throw it away.

Here is a question for you. How are you doing with your conscience?

Do you try (like King David with Bathsheba) to cover it, hide it, deceive others or just plain try to live with the consequences? (2 Samuel 11)

When we don’t listen to our conscience this is what happens.
But evil men and women, without conscience and without shame, persist in evil. (Zephaniah 3:5b, MSG)

Job says “Here’s what you said. I heard you say it with my own ears. You said, ‘I’m pure—I’ve done nothing wrong. Believe me, I’m clean—my conscience is clear. But God keeps picking on me; he treats me like I’m his enemy. He’s thrown me in jail; he keeps me under constant surveillance.’ (Job 33:8-11, MSG)

God keeps picking away at our lives because he sees something wrong with them.

On a good day, enjoy yourself; on a bad day, examine your conscience. God arranges for both kinds of days So that we won’t take anything for granted. (Ecclesiastes 7:14, MSG)

Here’s to conscience, the one thing we cannot escape!

Prayer- Father open our ears to our conscience, one of the ways you get our attention; Amen.
