What do you do when someone near to you loses a loved one? Please be kind. Kindness involves generosity and compassion, courtesy and caring.
If your mouth is always in gear before your brain, shake their hand, share a hug, but keep your mouth shut. You won’t get indigestion by swallowing a stupid, thoughtless comment.
Everyone understands an act of kindness even if they are hard of hearing and can’t see a thing.
“Here is a simple rule of thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them! If you only love the lovable, do you expect a pat on the back? Run-of-the-mill sinners do that. If you only help those who help you, do you expect a medal? Garden-variety sinners do that. If you only give for what you hope to get out of it, do you think that’s charity? The stingiest of pawnbrokers does that. (Luke 6:31-34, MSG)
Prayer – Lord, we ask that you guard our mouths. Help us be kind. For Christ who is kind to us. Amen
