Writers Write

The truth is, they just can’t help themselves. They have a truth to tell or a story to preserve and they just can’t help themselves.

Saint John says that he wrote because to prevent others from sinning. 

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. (1 John 2:1)  

John also said “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5:13)

Luke wanted to preserve the chronological history of the Christ.

Since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught. (Luke 1:3b-4)  

Ken Taylor prepared The Living Bible so his family could understand the Word of God.  Eugene Peterson who wanted to present a clear version of the Bible for those who hadn’t read it before and to brighten the view of those who had.

They all wrote the Word for our benefit. Do you read it?
