Even after all these years, grief sometimes catches up with me.
Oh, it’s a different kind of pain, but it is still there.
I get great satisfaction from the book of Nehemiah. I used this same verse yesterday, and it sent me back to Nehemiah again. I relearned, (remembered? ) this lesson all over again.
His people were grieved and depressed. (Nehemiah 8:10a)10
And Nehemiah gave them the key to their feelings. The joy of the Lord is your strength! (Nehemiah 8:10b)
Then they read from God’s Word and understood it. (Verse 8)
They shared with friends and encouraged one another.)
They celebrated by eating and drinking and sharing with others. (Verse 12)
I have no choice but to choose this too. You?
And be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold. (Nehemiah 8:10b)
