Advantages

Only later do we recognize how God has led us to where we are. How is it that I was blessed to be the eldest child? And therefore the one to read to my Afi (Icelandic for Grandfather) when his eyesight failed? (Oh, how I complained to my mother!)

How is it that long before that Afi learned to love the Word of God and only wanted those words read to him? And how is it that I took the words in as I read? Why is it that became a habit in my life too; reading the Bible on a daily basis at a very young age, one chapter in the Old Testament and one in the New? And so I had advantage over my siblings when it came to knowing the truth.

Do you ever consider your past and the advantages that placed you where you are now, in your relationship with God?

Every detail works to your advantage and to God’s glory. (2 Corinthians 4:15, MSG)

Prayer – Lord, we sometimes think our lives went wrong, that others took advantage of us, when all along you were only placing us closer and closer to yourself. Thank you. Amen
