After the Excitement

We’re almost at the big day aren’t we? Christmas is galloping into our presence and we haven’t got our presents ready. The turkey is too big to thaw in the fridge. The children are restless and the shortbread burned. Relatives will be arriving on the door step at any moment and we haven’t dusted or vacuumed.

And in the midst of all this chaos…we’ve forgotten why Christmas even is. It’s all about Jesus! Jesus! Remember??

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. Through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

After all the excitement, Jesus will still be waiting, hoping to connect with us.

Prayer – God, thank you that this includes all of us. You reconciled those of us who were separated by our evil thoughts and actions. You brought us into his presence, and now we are holy and blameless before you. AMEN (From Colossians 1:15-23, NLT)
