Age-Friendly

Who is visiting your house this year? For the first time in a long while, we have a two-year-old on the guest list. That means that the Christmas tree must be securely tied and topple free. Breakable tree ornaments have to be at the top of the tree.

All the fancy candles and potpourri have to be out of reach and dangerous snacks like peanuts must be up, up and away. That pretty poinsettia must be away from little fingers. It is quite lethal if eaten.

Save the good tablecloth for adult dinner parties. Grandma’s antique dish wear might also be better left in the china cabinet for now. It’s actually okay to throw away stuff on occasion.

The little ones favorite snacks are in order. In our case, it is goldfish crackers. Punch should be kid friendly and not carpet staining.

After all, children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. (Psalm 127:3a, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, thank you for the little ones in our midst. Show us how to make our homes kid-friendly and safe for them. Amen.
