Arrow or Slingshot

An arrow is the only weapon I can think of that is pulled backwards before it moves forward to its target. On the other hand, a slingshot goes round and round before it releases a stone. Both movements are necessary to success.

We want to move forward but sometimes it seems like we are two steps backward, or even spinning in circles. Let’s pause and ask ourselves if we are an arrow or a slingshot. Does it really matter? Both eventually reach their target and we will too as long as we continually trust God and move step by step in the right direction.

Ponder how God using our setbacks to get us ready to go forward, then:

Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Timothy 4:16, NIV)

Prayer- Father, when we are tempted to give up, help us remember that you are able and willing to shoot us in the right direction and the pull back/spin is part of our momentum. Amen.
