The Pharisees didn’t often say anything out loud but they didn’t have to. Jesus knew what they were up to.
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?
And off the Pharisees go stir up trouble with the disciples.
When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”(Matthew 9:11, NIV)
But Jesus heard them!
Then he heals a demon possessed man and the crowd reacts with amazement.
And the Pharisees react as usual, by talking behind Jesus’ back.
But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.” (Matthew 9:34, NIV)
How and where do we talk about Jesus? What would we say if we thought he couldn’t hear us?
For that matter what do you say about the people you see every day?
Prayer – Father, back chat is not only rude, but it is disrespectful. Forgive us. Amen
