When a parent reminds a child not to stay out late, the child asks why. The parent says “Because I said so!” And still the child queries why, and the parent says, “Because I am the adult, that’s why.
My friend hates exercise but she walks for a half hour six days a week. I ask why she does such a thing and she replies, I exercise because I am an adult and I know that exercise is good for me. I am an adult.
Adults don’t waste God’s time arguing about the life he sets before us. Adults don’t waste their time on pornography or lose their money in gambling casinos.
Adults know enough to refuse second helpings. Adults obey the law, including posted speed signs. Adults don’t honk their horn at other drivers.
Adults do not expect others to make them happy or to support them financially.
Adults honor God with tithes and offerings without complaint.
Adults do not refuse when God asks them to mention Jesus in a conversation.
And I had to ask myself if I am an adult?
Jesus said, “You know the commandments: Don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat, honor your father and mother.” (Mark 10:19)
