2 Corinthians 1:11–You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us in answer to many prayers (RSV).
Those of us who speak for Stonecroft Ministries, that is, Christian Women’s Club, are well covered in prayer by behind-the-scenes folk that never get public applause or thanks. This poem honors them.
Behind the Scenes
The sinners see us face-to-face. They hear us give the call.
They thank us as we leave the room. They think we’ve done it all.
The speakers get to travel. We get to haul the net,
But there are more important ones, ones we can’t forget.
For everyone who takes the step of calling for salvation,
Faithful ones abide on knees, throughout every nation.
They never get the praise we do. They may not move a mile.
Their joy awaits in heaven when God gives all a smile.
A heavenly choir claps and sings. The angels cheer and grin.
God crowns with many crowns as pray-ers enter in.
Prayer: Lord, in whatever task you have called us, make us faithful, for the sake of Your kingdom. Amen.
