Customer to pushy, rude clerk: “Are you the boss today?”
Clerk: “No, I am not the boss, I am just bossy.” (Overheard at the local coffee shop)
While we may not like our bosses, they are in authority over us. The Bible points out a few thoughts about disobedience.
Moses then ordered Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, to appear, but they said, “We’re not coming. Isn’t it enough that you yanked us out of a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness? And now you keep trying to boss us around.” (Numbers 16:12-13, MSG)
Blockheads shouldn’t live on easy street any more than workers should give orders to their boss. (Proverbs 19:19, MSG)
Three things are too much for even the earth to bear, yes, four things shake its foundations— …when the janitor becomes the boss, ….(Proverbs 30:21, MSG)
Jesus went on to make these comments: If you’re honest in small things, you’ll be honest in big things; If you’re a crook in small things, you’ll be a crook in big things. If you’re not honest in small jobs, who will put you in charge of the store? Luke 16:10-13, MSG)
Prayer-Lord, help us live and work as you would. Amen.
