Oh aren’t we all over the gluten free, veggie free, dairy free, meat free and salt free and every new eating plan offered every new day? We follow the herd.
Forget that we grew up eating a mixture of all foods and survived. Forget that we do not have a gluten problem or a salt free necessity. No forget all that because now in every way and on every day we follow the herd. Folks we are eating stuff now that my Dad would never have fed his cattle.
The news advertises a new eating plan? Oh we are on it! Oh tomorrow there is another one? Oh we are on it.
If I can thank God for the food and enjoy it, why let someone spoil everything just because he thinks I am wrong? Well, I’ll tell you why.
It is because you must do everything for the glory of God, even your eating and drinking. (1 Corinthians 10, 30-31, TLB)
Because of that mentality, we do the same with everything else in our life. We waver daily over everything from child care to politics. Have we no brain left in our own heads?
Job answered: “I’m sure you speak for all the experts, and when you die there’ll be no one left to tell us how to live. But don’t forget that I also have a brain— I don’t intend to play second fiddle to you. It doesn’t take an expert to know these things. (Job 12:1-3, MSG)
Prayer- Lord, common sense has left the building and also our own heads. Restore it Lord before it is too late! Amen.
