Call It Like It Is

Philippians 4:11-12Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me (NASB).

Hubby says we should be grateful and loudly thank God for leftovers. It means we have abundance and that I don’t have to cook!

That got us thinking about the other ‘too much’in our lives. Noisy children when we are trying to nap means someone is around if we need help.

Second-hand clothing indicates that someone loved us enough to share out of their ‘too much.’An overflowing bathtub provides enough water to wash the bathroom floor. The library generously stores books for us.  When I have to lose a few pounds, I’ve had more than enough to eat. Tithes and offerings are no burden, just a Heavenly Savings Plan.

It’s great fun to look for the abundance readily available in every area of our lives. It’s just a matter of recognizing that no matter the circumstances, we can make it through anything when we realize where our strength lies. All together now! Let’s speak it aloud. Today’s circumstance is God’s blessing to us!

Prayer: God, forgive us when we whine. Everything passes through your hands to us. We are grateful in every instance of our lives and we trust you to get us through them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
