If we don’t keep our campsite clean we risk attack from critters of the wild. Just what animals you may ask? While statistically, we are not in danger because only a few people were killed by bears this year and a few more attacked, I ask you: does that matter? YES, if you were one of those few!
Mountain lions, sharks, snakes and alligators boast the same statistics. Yikes! Of course, your location has lots to do with that. Mountain camping probably won’t net you a shark.
If we compare apples to oranges, more people die in car related incidents than are attacked or killed by wild creatures… but if you are the one in danger, it means a lot more to you.
Spiritually speaking, we are in danger from all of them. Here is just one example:
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8, NIV)
