Christ in the Old Testament (Birth)

Scholars found more than three hundred prophecies about Christ in the Old Testament. On our way to Christmas, we will discuss a few of them.

The Old Testament records this promise.

Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel” (See Isaiah 7:14).

Here is the promise fulfilled.

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). (See Matthew 1:23)

The Old Testament records the fact that Jesus and his family had to flee to Egypt and then be called back when it was safe.

“When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son” (See Hosea 11:1).

Here in Matthew we see the flight and the return recorded for our information.

“He [Joseph] got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘Out of Egypt I called my son'” (See Matthew 2:14–15).

Perhaps this is new to you. I trust these truths encourage your heart into a deeper walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer- Lord open our eyes to the truths that are self- evident in these scriptures. Amen.
