Christ in the Old Testament (Pierced)

These are the gory parts of Christ’s suffering on our behalf.

“Dogs surround me, villains encircle me; they pierce my hands; my feet” (Psalm 22:16).

Note that witnesses understood the necessity of fulfilled scripture.

“These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: ‘Not one of his bones will be broken,’ and, as another scripture says, ‘They will look on the one they have pierced'” (John 19:36–37).

Are you tired yet? Imagine the sufferings of the Christ and what he did for you and for me.

They even gambled for his clothing, while he was on the cross.

“They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment” (Psalm 22:18).

“When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. ‘Let’s not tear it,’ they said to one another. ‘Let’s decide by lot who will get it.'” This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled. (John 19:23–24).

Prayer- Lord we are entering the Christmas season with Christ’s suffering in our minds. We are more than thankful for that babe in the manger. Amen.
