Two large Christian organizations are combining forces to attack poverty internationally. Compassion International, which matches more than 1 million children in 25 of the world’s poorest countries with sponsors, has teamed up with the Willow Creek Association. The association is a network of more than 12,000 evangelical churches committed to addressing poverty in the developing world. The partnership, called Church to Church, was launched at Willow Creek’s 2009 Leadership Summit. “It’s a real thrill to see a fantastic ministry like Compassion International join forces with Willow to bring this church-to-church approach to the broader body in the United States,” said Bill Hybels, senior pastor of Willow Creek Community Church. “I think an ‘only God’ moment awaits us all as we see the local church rise up and fight the plagues of extreme poverty and injustice that clearly can be defeated in our time.” Links: Compassion International: http://www.compassion.com/ Willow Creek Association: http://www.willowcreek.com/
