Has your reputation ever been compromised by wagging tongues? One pastor lost his job because someone saw him sitting on the front lawn with a female parishioner who was wearing shorts! Oh God forbid! And tongues began to wag and each tongue added another word or two to the mix. Horrors!
Have you ever considered what happens to those who prattle, tattle, and gossip?
Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not endure.
(See Psalm 101:5)
I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak…
(From Matthew 12:36)
If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.
(James 1:26)
For I am afraid that when I come, I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.
(1 Corinthians 12:20, NIV)
