Confidence

Two hundred people had gathered in honor of a couple’s 50thwedding anniversary.

‘How do you do it?’ my friend stammered. ‘How do you go out and talk to them?  I hate it, I don’t know their names and I hate crowds.’  (So that’s why she was hiding in the broom closet.)

After I explained the guests probably felt the same way, my friend gathered her courage and started shaking hands and welcoming guests at the door.

Are you afraid of crowds? Who isn’t?

Try these tips, remembering all the while that the other guy/gal is nervous too.

Be the first to smile, reach out to shake hands and make eye contact. Speak up clearly. Never let them see you sweat!  If you act with confidence, you will seem so.

When I became a motivational speaker, I couldn’t say boo to a goose without fainting. I still get butterfly stomach every time I stand at a microphone, but people tell me that I exude calm. Little do they know it’s because my confidence is well-placed.

Psalm 118:8-It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man (KJV)

Proverbs 3:26-For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken (KJV).

1 John 5:14-And this is the confidence that we have in him that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us (KJV).

Let’s use what the Lord gave us.

Prayer: Lord, thanks for reminding us how well-equipped we are in Christ. Amen.
