I’ve never heard this term before but it describes the graded areas along paved roads that allow people on bicycles, in wheel chairs, with baby prams or walkers and canes, to get safely off the sidewalk and onto the street level. A curb cut is the sort of thing you don’t even bother about- until you need it.
God gives us curb cuts every day and we wander along, totally oblivious to them. For instance, he forgives our sins and heals our diseases. (Psalm 103:3).
He helps us love our enemies. (Matthew 5:43-478) and to grow spiritually. (Romans 14:19)
He gives us spiritual gifts. (See I Corinthians 12) He calls us into holiness and then helps us live that way! (1 Thessalonians 4:7)
Sometimes we find the curb cuts hard to bear and we don’t want to use the path God offers.
For our earthly fathers disciplined us for only a short time as seemed best to them; but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. (Hebrews 12:10, AMP)
But the easier path he offers is still there–still available–every single day, should we choose it.
Prayer – Thank you Lord for your paths, your curb cuts, which you place in exactly the right spot, so that we can take advantage of them. Amen
