Dead Dog

At first glance, a large white puppy trailed behind her on a leash. As the car got closer, I saw that what she was really doing was dragging a large stuffed animal. She made do by pretending that she had a real puppy.

That vision haunted me and I’ve prayed for that (unknown to me) little girl I drove by all those years ago.

She is a grown woman now and probably owns a real Dog. I hope so.

What a picture of our spiritual lives! We drag our dead thoughts, feelings and faith around behind us, pretending that we serve Jesus, like others we might hang out with.

Folks, you don’t need to drag dead anything behind you. Our past is dead and gone. We can let it go into the arms of Christ. Christ asks you to join him in truth and light and life.

“Now, get on your way quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He is risen from the dead. He is going on ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there.’ That’s the message.”

(Matthew 28:7, MSG)

Just as Jesus raised the ‘dead’ girl in Matthew chapter nine, he can raise you too.

Drop your dead sins, your past, and move to the real of what is real. Jesus the living Savior.

See John 3:16 and live!
