Deceived

As the old saying goes, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice; shame on me.

Sometimes we might be intentionally tricked or mislead, even deceived. “Don’t bother paying your taxes, the government doesn’t care!”

Occasionally we fool ourselves into believing an untruth. “The scale must be wrong. I’ve been eating like a bird!” (Yes, a vulture!)

But if we have lost all hope and are depressed beyond measure, we believe at least one lie about ourselves and God.

Jesus said that the truth will set us free. (John 8:31-32) The truth is that God is love. (1 John 4:8)  He loves us because we love Christ and believe he came from God. (John 16:27) He repeatedly tells us not be afraid or to worry. (Matthew 6:25)

Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? (Galatians 3:3, NIV)

Prayer – God, help us to remember who we are and what we know to be true. You.  Amen
