T.D. Jake’s new book is a disruptive series of stories and thoughts that clarify the verse.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7)
Disruptive means causing trouble and therefore stopping something from continuing as usual.
How often do we do the same old thing the same old way and thus get the same old results?
Jake’s book is well-titled Disruptive Thinking. It’s another way to say step out of the box. These thoughts motivated me and I hope they will do the same for you. I got the book from my local library, but I will buy my own copy to refer to it often. I include some thoughts below.
- Thought One- Fitting in is our biggest problem. People who stand out are the ones who are different. Consider Abraham Lincoln, six foot four inches tall, wearing a stovepipe hat another six to eight inches high…purposely standing out!
- Thought Two- We are born looking like our parents but we die looking like our decisions. (T.D Jakes)
- Thought Three- I am not willing to shrink my purpose down to fit into the too-small confines of other people’s opinions. (Nona Jones in Disruptive Thinking)
Everything you do in your journey of self-improvement, including serving others in love, matters to God. He wants you to be diligent in meeting others’ needs as well as managing your own. God doesn’t want you only focusing on yourself but growing in Christlikeness as you give back to others. (Hebrews 6:10-11)
