Do You Mind?

OK, I confess to occasional, if temporary bouts of jealousy. Be honest now. Don’t you too? Are we really happy for others when they get healed and we don’t? Or when they get financial freedom and we don’t?

Luke 13:12 tells of a woman who had not been unable to stand up or even look up for eighteen years.

The Pharisees ‘were indignant because Jesus healed on the Sabbath (Luke 13:14, AMP) but I think there was a twinge of underlying jealousy or envy there as well. Would they have been more sympathetic if that woman had been their wife, mother or child?

A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones. (Proverbs 14:30, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, we confess our rotten attitudes of jealousy and envy when you bless others. Help us appreciate your amazing love, especially when it is displayed in another’s life. In Christ. Amen.
