Mightily offended, Herod turned on Jesus. His soldiers joined in, taunting and jeering. Then they dressed him up in an elaborate king costume and sent him back to Pilate. (Luke 23:11)
This is the costume I want to wear for Halloween and all the other days of the year. I want to walk in love, following the example of King Jesus. I want to do my best to look like him in everything I do and speak.
All day-to-day folks will be dressed in weird or scary outfits. They all expect candy. I doubt any of us dress as we really are. Jesus was the exception.
Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love.
Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that. (Ephesians 5:1-2,)
Let Christ be our real clothing, not just a costume we put on at our convenience.
