Fair-Weather Friends

Job 42:11there came to him all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before, and they ate bread with him in his house; and they sympathized with him and comforted him over the [distressing] calamities that the Lord had brought upon him. Every man also gave him a piece of money, and every man an earring of gold (AMP).

They weren’t’t there when Job needed comfort and support. Now Job has friends and relatives? Now? When his boils are gone and his fortunes restored? Now? When he is no longer sits in ashes, begging to die? HUMPH!

How did those ‘friends’even have the nerve to show up at the celebration? Wait! Wait! Let’s put our names on those bodies.

A friend loses a loved one and we……………….….….……..?

Someone is sick but we are too busy to………………….….. .?

A friend is addicted but we…………………………..….…….?

Neighbors are getting a divorce but we..……………………?

Friends down the street may lose their house but we ………………?

Oh!

Prayer: Lord, open our eyes to the hurting. Help us be part of their solution and their healing, if for no other reason than someday it might be us. Amen.
