Feeling a Little Chicken?

Are you afraid of what lies ahead? Feeling a bit chicken-livered? Try out these verses for size and be encouraged.

Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. (Psalm 91:3-4, NIV)

So dear chicken-livered one—God, your God, will save you from fowlers; that is those who trap birds. He will save you from infectious diseases; the worst of which is unbelief. He promises to keep you, dear little chick, as a mother hen would save her chickens. He puts you safely near himself, under his protection.

And under there, you do not need to fear night terrors or hunter’s arrows nor noonday plagues. He has got you.

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. (Psalm 91:5-6, NIV)

So be a little chicken if you must but know where your safety lies and get in there as fast as possible.

Prayer- Father we confess our chicken-hood but we also confess our great trust in you; the one God who keeps chickens safe! Amen.
