That’s right friends. We as Christians form about half of the marriage failures in this country. How can that be? Don’t we all know the principles of marriage?
Think about it- Love your neighbor as yourself is a really strong commandment when you consider that your closest neighbor is your spouse!
Are you guilty of putting them in second place after in-laws, friends and work?
Are you unappreciative of how hard they work?
Do you expect them to make you happy? It is not their job! It is yours. Are you looking at greener pastures that only look green because you haven’t seen them first thing in the morning?
Do you whine and complain? Chase after mommy and daddy to still look after you?
Oh friends I could go on, but as bad as you think your spouse is, take a minute and turn the light on yourself. You are no prize either. You make a perfect pair.
Ponder this verse.
But they were not concerned and paid no attention [they ignored and made light of the summons, treating it with contempt] and they went away—one to his farm, another to his business. (Matthew 22:5, AMP)
Is that how you do marriage? Time to rethink so you are not part of the 50%.
Prayer- God, help us to be the kind of marriage partner that cherishes the other. For Christ. Amen.
