Now how could this possibly work out? Surely the men needed more food and the children less? Yet God had the Israelites gather manna according to these instructions.
This is what the Lord has commanded: Let every man gather of it as much as he will need, an omer for each person, according to the number of your persons. (Exodus 16:16a, AMP)
The results are documented in verse 18.
When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack; each gathered according to his need.
That seems to be the key. Eat according to our needs, not our wants.
I want ice cream but I need vegetables. I want second helpings but I need to refuse them. That sounds simple enough.
Prayer-Lord whenever we want more than we need, help us remember that anything more than need, is greed. Amen
