Grapes of Glory

Today a friend offered me some grapes. I agreed to take them but I had no idea she was giving me two large cardboard boxes of them.

I in turn offered them to all my neighbours. They took lots but didn’t even make a dent in those piles I called our church food bank and they were delighted to have them.

Always our extras need a home. It is not in your waste basket or your garbage pail. Good food is good food even if you don’t want it!

World Food Day is the day that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations began in 1945, it is also the day to recognize that thousands of people right under our very noses live in constant fear of hunger.

“Be generous. Give to the poor. Get yourselves a bank that can’t go bankrupt, a bank in heaven far from bank robbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank you can bank on. (Luke 12:33)

Be generous to the poor—you’ll never go hungry. (Proverbs 28:27)

Donate (even money) to your local food bank. Look around you and see a neighbor who would benefit from the abundant produce in your garden. Invite a less fortunate family in for dinner. Share what you have.
