Grieving at Christmas

My eyes are dim with grief. I call to you, Lord, every day; I spread out my hands to you. (Psalm 88:9)

Christmas is hard for those who have lost loved ones. I know this from experience.

Please let us grieve in our own way, but let us know you are willing to help with things like decorating or baking.

Invite us to go shopping with you.  Invite us to your parties, your lunches or your tree decorating.

Ask us to volunteer together at a food bank, collecting for a charity or helping in a soup kitchen.

We might not go, but we need to know you care.

Do not tell us to ‘get over it”. Be willing to sit with us when we cry. Let us talk about our loved one. Send cards or letters. Phone or text often.

Why? Just because you can represent the loving care of Christ to us. We need it.
