Hard to Believe

Mark 9:23Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. (KJV)

My Cheese and Onion Pie recipe is simple. All you need is pastry for a double piecrust, and a mixture of four cups grated Cheddar cheese and four cups of chopped onions.

Line a deep nine-inch pie pan with pastry. Pack in the cheese/onion mix. Add top crust and bake at 425 degrees F for ten minutes. Then cook at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and onions are cooked. Serve hot or cold. Great for New Year’s Eve.

Everyone raves about it. Everyone wants the recipe. When I give it to them, they question its validity. “Are you sure,” they ask? “Haven’t you forgotten something?” “No,” I reply. “Try it for yourself.”

And they do. Then they tell their friends. And their friends ask, “Are you sure?” and they say, “Yes, we are sure. Try it for yourself.”

Just like my pie, some people find it hard to believe that God took human form, come to earth, died for our sins and was raised from the dead.  I thought so too. Then I asked Jesus into my heart and found out for myself. Now I tell my friends and they say………..and their friends say……. And so on. Willing to try my pie? And my Jesus?

Prayer: Lord, forgive us for prejudging what you did for us. Help us be open to you, your saving grace and your son, Jesus. Then show us who else needs your recipe for life!  In Christ’s name. Amen.
