Deuteronomy 1:24-26– They left and went up into the hill country, and came to the Valley of Eshcol and explored it. Taking with them some of the fruit of the land, they brought it down to us and reported, “It is a good land that the Lord our God is giving us.” But you were unwilling to go up (NIV).
Here or Hear?
Moses called his people into a bright and vibrant land,
As witnesses in all the earth for those who didn’t understand
That the God who made creation, the God who freed from sin,
The God who’d send his Son to die had called his people in.
Called to build community, the burden ours to carry,
Knowing God’s purpose in his will? It’s true we must not tarry.
Our focus not to be on improving where we are.
Our focus needs to focus on the new land not so far.
Let’s not falter now, as people do who focus on the fear.
It’s time to reach beyond our selves to stop the here and hear!
Prayer: Lord, unstop both our ears and our feet. When you call us to a new place (and you will), give us courage and enough faith to answer with a resounding YES. In Jesus' name. Amen.
