My four-year-old grandson has been in and out of hospital all summer, struggling to recover from his appendix surgery. When he finally got back home to stay, his joy was infectious. He ran and jumped and played till he had to lie down and rest. Then he did it all over again.
Is that is how my husband Ron felt when he got to heaven? He’d been so sick in his last days here on earth, but when he found himself healed and whole and healthy, surely, he’d want to do all the things he hadn’t been able to do for so long.
We so often take our earthly home for granted. While we have the opportunity, let’s thank God for it and the folks who live there. Then, when the time is right, we’ll have practice at rejoicing in our Heavenly one.
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:2-3)
I thank God for my earthly home but I’m definitely looking forward to that heavenly one!
