When I documented my recovery from abuse and its resulting eating disorder in the book, Meeting Myself, Snippets from a Binging and Bulging Mind, I nicknamed my eating disorder ‘Ed.’ I still saw Ed as my inescapable enemy, even though I’ve been free of Ed for many years.
Then during our thirty days together here, God pointed out this verse.
The Reubenites and Gadites called the altar Ed [witness], saying, It shall be: A Witness Between Us that the Lord is God. Joshua 22:34, AMP)
My eating disorder helped me understand that the Lord, he is God! As the Lord’s grace and strength and my tiny, pathetic stumbling united toward freedom, slowly but surely, I was free.
Look at your own life. Recognize how far you’ve come, day by day. Never give up hope. Your future with the Savior is bright and free of encumbrance.
God spoke all these words: I am God, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of a life of slavery. (Exodus 20:1-2, MSG)
Key Verse: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13, KJV)
Prayer: Thank You, Lord. Amen
