Are you the kind of person who believes that it’s only the thought that counts? How do you choose Christmas gifts for family and friends?
Do you buy with little consideration for the receiver? Does your red-headed niece get pink outfits. Do you give a friend a book just because it happens to have her name on the cover? Your bookish son-in-law gets a fishing license?
Thought that really counts puts themselves in another person’s shoes. Oh. Wait.
That sounds like Jesus!
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:9-10)
Let’s aim to think as Jesus thinks, giving consideration to what people really need, instead of what we want to give.
