Colossians 3:23-24– Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as (something done) for the Lord and not for men. Knowing (with all certainty) that it is from the Lord (and not from men) that you will receive your (real) reward. (The One whom) you are actually serving is the Lord Christ (the Messiah) (AMP).
Apparently the TV program was fascinating. The young lady didn’t even take her eyes off the set as the four of us entered the gift shop. As we moved around the store, she kept turning her swivel chair, managing at all times to keep her back to us. Product in hand, I raced in a circle, trying to beat the speed of the twisting chair. I am sure this was not a pretty sight. With that picture in my mind and no chance of winning, I gave up the chase. That clerk was a clerk in name only.
What kind of employees are we? Is God trying to get our attention and use us on the job? Are we twirling ourselves wildly in other directions? Are we the best example of Christian that our boss will ever see? Are we taking the job title Christian and its holy lifestyle, but forgetting that it is superior to any other title we will ever have?
Prayer: Lord, we get frustrated, discouraged and angry. We play the “they won’t miss this paper/pencil/money game.” We don’t let on that we know you. Help us get back on the right track, one that does not go in circles. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
