Ever suffer from insomnia? Several Bible folks had the same problem.
Jacob suffered from over work and a tough boss.
Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes. (Genesis 31:40, KJV)
We aren’t told why King Ahasuerus couldn’t sleep but at least he didn’t whine about it, but instead read a good book.
On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king. (Esther 6:1, KJV)
Let’s face it; some of us don’t sleep because we are afraid of something. You could say that thought inter-fears (interferes) with our rest.
This might help.
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8, KJV)
Prayer – Father, give us the rest that only you can provide. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as you said. (From Hebrews 4:3a, KJV) Amen
