In this millennium, having debt has become something that is accepted or tolerated.
What’s really important in life? Is it really that important to keep up with the Joneses?
Jesus taught in Matthew 6:19-20, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”
New houses eventually become old houses. New cars eventually break down, and new clothes eventually fade and fray. Current high tech gadgets will eventually be obsolete. It is a vicious never ending cycle that will bring pleasure only for a moment. Set priorities. Invest in things that really matter: Salvation, love, fellowship with God and fellowship with one another. Such wise investments are sure to bring eternal dividends.
