Is This You?

I always gain weight over the Christmas holidays. I am frazzled out of my wits because there is so much to do and no one to help. My charge card will be out of bounds come January.

Really? This is the time for change and only you can make it happen. Let’s stop blaming God for our eating habits, our spending or our time mismanagement. We too often do what we do because others ‘expect’ it.

Draw three columns on a large sheet of paper. Ask yourself what holiday things you do only because you are afraid of the reaction of others if you don’t do them.  In column one, jot down what Christmas traditions, foods, decorating, or parties are essential to you. In column two, list the ones you can do without. We will tackle column three tomorrow.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV)

The chapter continues with the times of our lives. Read it for yourself. At no time does it mention a time to waste your life doing things because you are afraid of the reactions of others.

Prayer – Lord may we be true to you and to ourselves this Christmas season. For Christ who is always true to us. Amen
