June is busting out all over…as are my thighs! I just heard someone say today that we have to make peace with our thighs. Easier said than done.
Today our goal is this. Since we live in our bodies, we need to make peace with our bodies. We cannot continue to live at odds with our own best friend.
We hear constantly about our BFF’S… those best friends forever who take us to doctor appointments, listen to our complaining, babysit our kids or stood next us at our mom’s funeral. And yes, most certainly they did all of that and more. BUT you were there first! You had to hold your own hand, be kind to yourself, call for help. You were there right from the beginning. No friend, husband or thing can ever make us feel right about ourselves.
Sadly, we have not nurtured that person as well as we could have. We learned to comfort ourselves in hurtful ways like addictions. When no one else makes us feel bad, we make our selves feel bad.
Then we get the opportunity to know Jesus as our BFF. Yet we hold back. We don’t fully trust him yet and so we continue to suffer in needless pain because so many others let us down.
Open your heart, friends. Jesus doesn’t care about your thighs or your bad habits or your guilt. He loves you just the way you are.
So, we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (1 John 4:16)
